Over the past decade, I've collaborated on research projects with colleagues in Chile and Costa Rica but I cannot confidently speak Spanish, so I plan to become conversant in Spanish in the next 1–3 years to enhance collaboration and publishing with Latin American educators and researchers.

My goal is to devise a 5- and 10-year plan that integrates my research on immigration policy into my teaching (designing new courses), advising (recruiting MS and PhD students), and professional service (planning a mini-symposium on immigration).

Jessica Bowers plans include building cross-university and community relationships; specifically with faculty and community members that work with people with feeding and swallowing disorders. She wants to increase education for this specialized area of study and improve outcomes for underserved populations.

The purpose of this project is to develop an on-campus internship/ job training and leadership program to help manage horticultural, conservation and sustainability initiatives on campus.

I will organize a Bilingual Education alum group at Texas State University that seeks professional development and a networking space for learning en comunidad.

Dr. Kristen Farris

Through this project, I will explore how patients diagnosed with chronic illness communicatively navigate family members’ involvement (e.g., conflict, influence, coercion) in their medical decision-making with the goals of identifying effective patient advocacy strategies and sharing these findings with the community that most benefit from them.

I am expanding the scope of my visual art professional practice by developing an editioned artist book (an artwork that takes the form of a book), weaving together recent drawings, photography and creative nonfiction on the subject of extraterrestrial landscapes.

I will focus on developing the textbook Smart Manufacturing Systems: A Practical Guide to CNC, 3D Printing, and Robotics in Modern Industry in collaboration with the scientific publisher Elsevier. This textbook on smart manufacturing systems aims to integrate automation, data analytics, and advanced engineering principles to enhance efficiency and innovation in modern Industry, supporting Texas State University's commitment to advancing engineering education and preparing students for the future of manufacturing.
