Frequently Asked Questions about New Tenure-Track Orientation
-
What is the difference between NFO and NTTO?
New Faculty Orientation (NFO) is required for all new benefits-eligible faculty and those who were previously appointed as per course or were in a non-benefits eligible position.
This orientation is provided by Human Resources and is held on a separate day from NTTO. Please contact Human Resources for more information regarding NFO.
New Tenure-Track Faculty: Resources and Responsibilities (NTTO) is offered only in the fall. Attendance is expected for all new tenure-track faculty hired to start in spring or fall semesters and those who were previously in a non-tenure line position and hired this year in a tenure-track position. This required session is in addition to attendance at New Faculty Orientation, because it focuses on familiarizing you with policies, procedures, and practices that will help you be successful in progressing toward tenure. New Tenure-Track Orientation includes an overview of the mission and goals of the university, the tenure and promotion process, expectations for teaching and research, and leadership and support available. Tenure-track faculty will get more information during the summer about registering for this program.
